Nicola Slingsby
Nicky Slingsby has a powerful passion for people and their personal and professional development. She believes that leadership starts from within: the more effectively one can lead oneself, the more effectively one can lead others. Sustainable, highly functional organisations consist of top performing individuals and teams, who are able to communicate effectively with self (intrapersonal) and others (interpersonal). The focus of her work is partnering with individuals and groups to access and achieve their true potential. Many of her clients have shifted and grown, resulting in a profoundly positive impact on their organisations.
Nicola is the founder of True North Coaching and Facilitation, a company she started in 2003. It has grown into a highly-professional and well-respected coaching and facilitation practice that has inspired and motivated many people, on both a personal and professional level.
2010 was an exciting and dynamic year for True North. We maintained our fruitful partnerships with existing clients such as Anglo American, Compass Insurance, Hannover Re and Standard Bank while new clients, including Colgate, Optimum Coal, MTN, Primedia and SAB embarked on leadership and team development programmes facilitated by True North. The Paths of Excellence Leadership programme gave momentum to and deepened our involvement in leadership development. Individuals and teams who have completed the programme experienced significant and sustainable positive changes in their leadership behaviour, performance and results.
The creative and dedicated True North team continued to facilitate the personal and professional growth of our clients. The addition of a new business partner in February 2010 contributed to the expansion and diversification of True North.
Nicola believes that the success of True North can be attributed not only to her ongoing personal training and development, but also her hands-on experience in the corporate environment. Before launching True North, she spent nine years in leadership positions in a variety of companies, including Business Unit head at Dimension Data.
Professional Highlights
- Nicola is one of the few coaches in South Africa to be given the status of Professional Coach by the
International Coach Federation. - Nicola has coached more than one hundred executives from diverse countries and organisations.
- In 2009 – 2010 Nicola was a faculty member of the UCT Graduate School of Business. She mentored
coaches who successfully completed their PCC training. She was also a member of the UCT Graduate
School of Business accreditation panel which certifies final year professional coaching students.
